Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of self-acceptance and social comparison on the tendency of body dissatisfaction in students who use TikTok social media. The hypothesis of this study is that there is a significant influence between self-acceptance and social comparison on the tendency of body dissatisfaction in students who use TikTok social media. The subjects in this study were female students who use TikTok social media aged 18 to 25 years, taken from six universities in Bandar Lampung with a total of 180 subjects. The research data were taken using the Body Dissatisfaction Scale (BDS), Berger Self Acceptance Scale (BSAS) and The Upward and Downward Apperance Comparison Scale (UDACS). The collected data were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis techniques. The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant influence between self-acceptance and social comparison on the tendency of body dissatisfaction in students who use TikTok social media (p <0.05).
