Abstract

This article aims to describe the content of the direct method and its application in teaching the Arabic language, as the  Ma’had Hubulo Gorontalo  was one of the Ma’hads that best done the process of teaching the Arabic language in this way. This article is based on the qualitative descriptive approach, after the researcher observed and interviewed all the Ma’had’s employees and everyone interested in completing this article.

            The article indicates that the pictures of the application of the direct method in the institute are: by assigning the topic by the teacher, then using the means of explanation, then linking the teacher's speech with the movements that represent the meaning of the words, then ordering the students to simulate the words of the teacher, then concluding the teaching by presenting practical questions to the students. As for the effects of applying the direct method in the institute, the students' linguistic competencies have improved and promoted, especially in listening, speaking and writing skills.
